    Good Morning

We are currently collecting various data from numerous machines, our next step is to make the data work for us.
Can this community give me recommendations on a analytics program, preferably with dashboard capabilities built in?
    Thanks!

    Bill,

To be able to begin to answer the question of next step you first need to understand data-everything analytic begins with data. Accordingly, I give you a set of slides to explain how to extract data from your systems and, join and form it in to the super tables you will need to conduct any envisioned analytic. Download teaching slide set, "Build Super Tables From Operational Data," at https://analytics4strategy.com/train-builddatatables

The explanation is done with MS Access for several reasons. First, your firm already has a license. Second, because of the first, everyone in your organization, processes and analytic teams can place it on their own computer. Third, as is apparent in the slides, it is very friendly and the data skills gained with Access transfer to other software.

Bill, We need additional information on your data.
    • What is the source of the data and what data are generated?
    • How are the data captured?
    • In what tables are the data captured?
    • What are the variables of the tables?
    • Who has access to the data tables?
Analytics stands upon data. Before speaking to analytics, we must completely speak to the data.

Maybe I'm missing the point--my bad. Are you looking for a software for predictive maintenance (IIoT)? Or are you wishing to step into the era of data-driven operations with your asset data?

    Hi William,

The first question I would ask is: What decisions are you expecting the data to support?

Many organizations collect large amounts of machine data, but the real challenge is transforming that information into actionable insights for maintenance, reliability, and operations teams.

If you're looking for dashboard capabilities, tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Grafana can be excellent options depending on your infrastructure and data sources. However, before selecting a platform, I would recommend defining your key performance indicators (KPIs), failure modes, and business objectives.

In my experience, successful analytics initiatives start with a clear understanding of the problem to solve rather than the software itself.

I'm interested in hearing what types of equipment and data sources you're currently working with.

    Best regards,
    Christian
