My company is a Data Center company and our spare parts program is basically non-existent. I am looking for a consultant to help organize our spare parts and create the program. Looking for experiences on setting up the criteria for setting up the program and who was chosen. Also recommendations on what consulting companies do this well.

    Lee,

There are many reputable consultants out there that could assist.  An RFP/RFQ should get you some good proposals.

Have you done the other items that should be done beforehand?  Do you have your critical assets identified, do you have an idea of what critical (Insurance) spares  and preventive maintenance parts you need?  Looks like you want both a spare part analysis, what you need to spare, and a storeroom setup plan, organization and management.

I'd recommend that whoever you use follows a process similar to what is in this article to determine the spares needed. https://reliabilityweb.com/articles/entry/how_to_develop_a_spare_parts_stocking_strategy/

Here is an excellent blueprint from the James Kovacevic on setting up a storeroom.

Hello Lee. I thought it had sent this message, but found out that it hadn't.

I suggest our methodology which is explained in my book "Spare Parts Inventory Management", an approach of "Sustainable Optimization Aligned with Risk and Asset Reliability".

You could see the content and some details in this link: https://ortizruiz.com/book-spare-parts-inventory-management/

It has been applied in some industries such as oil and gas refinery, power transportation, and brewery.

If you need more details, feel free to contact us.

    Best regards,
