What is the best tool/software to interact with SAP to develop RCM?

  • 1.  What is the best tool/software to interact with SAP to develop RCM?

    Posted 09-21-2018 09:04 AM
Hi Network!! I am looking for a tool / software which can talk with SAP in order to improve the RCM development. I work with a powerfull RCM software (FMEA, MTBF, MTTR, etc) but all the maintenance history is in SAP; therefore the data need to be ingress manually, slowing the analysis process. What do you advise?

I believe that Availability Work Bench has a connector. We use AWB with Maximo and the connector API works. Check with ARM's Reliability in Austin, TX. ask for Jason.

Take a look at Availability Workbench from Isograph - Communication with external applications.

The Availability Workbench ERP Portals allow you to easily integrate Availability Workbench with your corporate ERP systems.  They can access data from:

    - SAP
    - IBM Maximo Asset Managment
    - ABB Ellipse

The Availability Workbench ERP Portals have been fully tested and certified  to work with your ERP systems.

    Best Regards, Brett

Yes availability workbench will do. Bently assetwise and meridium are also some options. Depends on what data you want to read from SAP and what to write.
What's the RCM software you're using?

Hi Network, try check Meridium - APM software. It's a solution enterprise that integrates with SAP for Strategy Development, Asset health, Reliability Modelling etc.

Hi Everyone; I have experience using MERIDIUM (GE Digital) and IVARA (Bentley), I invite you to review both or contact me by mail to give you my personal opinion about both.

Both are Asset Management tools (APM), they have modules for Reliability Analysis using probability distributions such as Weibull, they have RCM, FMEA, RCA, among others, and they have developed interfaces with SAP and Maximo CMMS.

    Dear Colleagues,

It depends on what you want to achieve and where you are at present in the asset management maturity level.

Let's assume your plant is more than 10 years old and using sap for more than 10 years .

    Senerio 1:
Want to perform RCM as a one time project and implement the recommendations in SAP

    Software options:
There are so many options , the prominent are
    A. RCM turbo ( strategic corp)
    B. RCM ++ ( reliasoft)
    C. Pmo2000 (Nexus global)

You may use a program to upload the recommendations in SAP with templates and physically implement it in your site.

Here the failure history is of no use, you may be able to get a list failure modes derived as part of the analysis itself.

I would be  really glad if you have a failure history that can give you any meaning to be used in the RCM analysis.

    Senerio 2:
You want to implement a good asset management framework to increase asset reliability then

You need to implement an asset performance management system (not just RCM alone) which addresses asset criticality, reliability, asset safety and to prevent loss of containment, measure cost, performance, etc

Here you need to start implementing good practices and methods to manage asset performance.

So the APM software should help you define,  implement a set of processes, measure performance, optimise and the cycle goes again and again.

Here you need to have a two way connector to sap to define, measure and optimise strategy.

Again your failure data is of NO use, if you have not implemented a good process of maintaining asset master data and failure data .

Don't be emotionally attached to your failure history unless you are confident of the data availability and its quality.

You should consider 1. Meridium APM 2. Bentley asset wise both have good connectors to SAP.
Also you need to start maintaining good asset master data, good transaction data for failure history from notification to closure of work orders with proper failure codes in order to make the APM system measure the effectiveness of your strategy.

    Good luck
