  • 1.  Creative Commons license to share knowledge

    Posted 07-15-2019 11:27 AM

The traditional systems of commerce and copyright undermine the sharing of knowledge. However, there is an emerging movement to share with few limitations. A visible part of the movement is that free pdf-books, such as mine (https://analytics4strategy.com/mntcreinvented), are increasingly being posted for download without strings. A second part of the movement is that knowledge is increasingly being published under one of six Creative Commons licenses (CC) rather than the traditional copyright © license.

The website https://analytics4strategy.com/ and its works are licensed under the most accommodating of the six-the "attribution" license denoted as (CC BY 4.0). Under the license you can copy and redistribute any item of work in any medium or format. Furthermore, you can extract from, transform and build upon the work for any purpose, even commercially. The only restrictions are that there must be attribution and, any changes must be indicated. The license is fully described at the site tab, "Creative Commons," (https://analytics4strategy.com/creative-commons).

If you are thinking of contributing your work into the emerging movement to share knowledge, all six of the Creative Commons licenses are explained at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/.

These are the six Creative Commons licenses, falling between public domain--no rights reserved and copyright--rights reserved.
