SMRP is seeking a Workshop and Tour Chairperson to serve on the Conference Committee. Terms begin immediately. The Workshop and Tour Chairperson serves a 1 year term; prior service as Track Leader and/ or Co-Track Leader is strongly preferred although not mandatory, and having presented in some capacity at previous SMRP Annual Conference (track session or workshop) is also preferred
Background
SMRP held its first conference in 1992. Since then, the conference has grown to attract more than 1,000 maintenance, reliability and physical asset professionals and more than 100 exhibiting companies. The SMRP Annual Conference is the premier event for education, certification and networking opportunities, and it is open to both members and nonmembers globally.
Purpose
The Annual Conference Committee is responsible for producing a globally-recognized conference and tradeshow for the maintenance and reliability community. The committee works to develop workshops, track sessions, facility tours and networking opportunities designed to educate, equip and excel.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively in a group
- Demonstrated leadership and professionalism
- Must be a member in good standing
- Must review and sign the SMRP Code of Conduct annually
- Must adhere to the Antitrust Policy
Estimated Time Commitment
1-7 hours per month; includes one teleconference per month and other meetings as necessary
Responsibilities
- Serves 1 year term; prior service as Track Leader and/ or Co-Track Leader is strongly preferred although not mandatory, and having presented in some capacity at previous SMRP Annual Conference (track session or workshop) is also preferred
- Works with SMRP staff to create and finalize the workshop and facility tour portions of the conference timeline
- Assists SMRP staff in identifying and recruiting team of workshop and tour moderators, first reaching out to any volunteers who have already expressed a desire to assist with these functions, then fellow Conference Committee members, then current Track Leaders and Co-Leaders, then members of the SMRP Board, then members of other committees, and finally attendees already signed up for workshops and/ or tours
- Leads, supports, and advises workshop and tour moderators
- Works with members of the local chapter, representatives of the local CVB or Chamber of Commerce, SMRP Board and/ or Conference Committee members, or other resources to identify suitable facility tours for conference
- Contacts all proposed tour facilities and gauges level of interest; works with SMRP staff to finalize tour logistics
- Assists SMRP staff in developing workshop and tour schedule as well as assigning workshop function rooms for conference
- Shares responsibility with moderators for monitoring and supporting workshops and tours during conference proceedings, including filling in for moderators if needed
- Reviews and approves workshop- and tour-related materials created by SMRP staff
- Provides other onsite support and assistance to SMRP staff as needed (especially as relates to facility tours)
- Facilitates two onsite meetings of workshop and tour moderators, usually Monday and Thursday mornings
- Attends site visit and planning meeting in city hosting the Annual Conference
- Succeeds Track Chairperson for following year’s conference
