  • 1.  Failed part tags that meet SMRP guidelines

    Posted 07-08-2025 12:17 PM

    Hi All,

Is anyone aware of a tag for failed parts that meets the guidelines of SMRP to kickoff RCAs? Our reliability teams are looking to buy standard tags to include failed part causes, asset name, work order, employee name, date, etc. So I don't have to design something from scratch and reinvent any wheels.

    Thanks,

I like the tag that has the metal wire, such that the means of attachment is provided with the tag.  This particular tag also has a reinforced hole to help minimize tear through.  I have used these before and like them.

Manila Paper Tags #5 with Wire Attached 4 3/4" x 2 3/8" (12 x 6 cm) Box of 100 Blank Shipping Tags Wired with Reinforced Hole and Metal Wire Ties - EZDOM Tags

The part I don't like is not having the background information pre-printed on the tag such as part number, removal date, etc.   So that could be solved via training the techs, preprint a custom tag, or preprinted label with the fields preprinted that you stick on the manilla tag.

I'm definitely interested in seeing what others have used!

I used to have a nice tag that I had printed up, but it was a challenge to get anyone to fill in all (or any) of the information. Now I just ask everyone to make sure the work order number is on the part. If you think about it, all of the other information you need is already saved in the maintenance software. The work order number gets you access to everything. (That's assuming the craftspeople attach reasonably detailed closing notes to their work orders, which ours do.)
