  • 1.  Girth gear Condition Monitoring

    Greetings Reliability Folks

    A question what condition monitoring tasks do you do at your mine for the girth gear of a mill.

    We’re considering a permanent monitoring system that’ll show us any abnormalities on the radial and axial run out.

    Any recommendations or example would be appreciated.

    I highly recommend Tom Tom tools , They has a  good range of product that can be used as permanent monitoring or routine measurements .

    First,  what are its operating conditions?  i presume low speed?   

    Second, oil analysis is a great idea for this application.  it will indicate when additional technologies would be useful.  

    However, most all critical assets should be monitored by more than 1 technology.  Have you performed a failure modes analysis?
