  • 1.  Request for papers, case studies etc on ROI v expenditure for equipment maintenance improvement programs

    Posted 07-09-2023 03:14 PM

Can anyone provide me with any research papers, reports or case studies for equipment maintenance management process improvement programs that detail actual ROI figures, if possible including itemised details such as the resultant reduced operating costs, reduced cost of losses due to breakdowns, reduced turn round times for overhauls, more efficient parts management, reduced stock write offs, improved equipment performance and even 2nd order gains due to increased employee engagement. Versus the cost of the improvement program.

I'd really appreciate any feed back on this,

    Ron

Here is the one performed by NIST and the US Dept of Commerce with support by SMRP.  I believe this will have the detail you are looking for: Manufacturing Machinery Maintenance | NIST

You should also find a number of other published presentations and papers within the SMRP library.  EPRI (epri.com) has a number of them related to utility and some related to commercial/industrial facilities (any over 10 years old are available at no cost).  You will also find a few in the IEEE Reliability group which can be found via ieeexplore.ieee.org.

Hope this puts you in the right direction.

    Hi Ron,

Implementation of Maintenance Management processes will have one direct affect: improve manpower utilization. What you do with that "found" manpower depends on your specific situation. If you use it to improve OEE (specifically equipment availability) and your in a sold out market, the payoff is huge, calculated in increased gross margins.

Attached are a couple of PowerPoint panels that shows you the results of individual implementations. My email is mpalm@convergentresults.com. We can dig deeper what you need.

    Hi Kamiara,

apologies for the late response. Thanks for this detailed paper. I was looking for some generic numbers in terms of ROI , however this is an interesting paper that looks at a single example which is also very useful.

    Regards
