That is a good question. The main thing to consider is the location of the machinery and what brand is most widely adopted in its location. For instance, if the machines are going to be primarily in the North American market, I would suggest Allen-Bradley as it is the most widely supported. For the European markets you should choose Siemens. Both brands create reliable products, but the current global conditions are making it difficult to obtain replacement parts. I would suggest shopping around considering a few key points.
- Are components readily available if they were to fail?
- Are any of the components selected planned for obsolescence in the near future?
- Do they have sufficient aftermarket support? (Think 3rd party parts and service support, in case you are unable to help.)
