Call for Workshop and Tour Chair Position – 2025 Annual Conference
The 2025 Annual Conference will be held in Fort Worth, Texas, from October 6-9, 2025.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced volunteer to serve as Workshop and Tour Chairperson for the 2025 Annual Conference. This is a unique leadership opportunity to play a key role in shaping the workshop and facility tour experiences for conference attendees.
Position Overview: The Workshop and Tour Chairperson plays a vital role in organizing the workshop and facility tour portions of the SMRP Annual Conference. This is a 1-year term, and while prior experience as a Track Leader or Co-Track Leader is preferred, it is not required. Having previously presented at the SMRP Annual Conference (either in a track session or workshop) is also desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with SMRP staff to plan and finalize the workshop and facility tour schedules for the conference.
- Lead the recruitment of workshop and tour moderators, giving priority to volunteers, Conference Committee members, Track Leaders, Co-Leaders, and SMRP Board members.
- Work closely with local resources, including chapter members, the Chamber of Commerce, or the CVB, to identify suitable facility tours.
- Coordinate with proposed tour facilities, manage logistics, and finalize details in partnership with SMRP staff.
- Oversee and support the workshop and tour moderators throughout the conference, including conducting two onsite meetings (usually Monday and Thursday mornings).
- Provide onsite support for workshops and tours, filling in for moderators when needed.
- Attend the planning meeting and site visit in the host city.
- Succeeds Track Chairperson for following year’s conference
This role provides a unique opportunity to shape a key part of the Annual Conference experience and to work closely with SMRP staff, committee members, and other conference leaders.
