Background
SMRP’s Solutions magazine is published six times per year exclusively for SMRP members. The magazine features unique articles written by members, along with news on SMRP, chapters, shared interest groups and other programs. Each issue’s theme follows the five pillars of the SMRP Body of Knowledge. Member-written articles focus on current trends, relevant topics affecting industries and the maintenance, reliability and physical asset management profession as they pertain to the theme.
Purpose
The Editorial Committee was established to provide oversight of SMRP’s publication, Solutions magazine.
Objectives
To develop a member publication that focuses on current trends, relevant topics impacting industries and the maintenance, reliability and physical asset management profession as they pertain to the chosen theme
Committee Expectations
The Editorial Committee may consist of up to eight team members. The Editorial Committee Chair is authorized to invite more committee members to participate, if necessary. The committee is required to meet the objectives outlined in the charter.
Budget & Resources
The SMRP Board of Directors identifies a budget and staff resources annually. The fiscal year runs from July 1 – June 30.
Committee Member
Committee members volunteer, or are appointed by the Editorial Committee Chair. Terms begin in October, immediately following the Annual Business Meeting at the SMRP Annual Conference.
Estimated Time Commitment
1-3 hours per month; includes one teleconference per month and other meetings as necessary
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively in a group
- Demonstrated leadership and professionalism
Requirements
- Must review and sign the SMRP Code of Conduct annually
- Must adhere to the Antitrust Policy
General Duties
- Review and provide feedback on articles for each issue of Solutionsmagazine
- Provide recommendations on topics for the sixth issues of Solutionsmagazine each year
- Offer recommendations to improve the publication and/or review process
Resignation
- Committee Chairs: In the event a committee member must resign, a 30-day written notice to the Member Services Director is required.
- Committee Member: In the event a committee member must resign, a 30-day written notice to the Editorial Committee Chair is required.
Removal
- Committee Chairs: In the event a committee chair is not fulfilling the general duties of the position, the Member Services Director may recommend removal.
- Committee Member: In the event a committee member is not fulfilling the general duties of the position, the Editorial Committee Chair may recommend removal.
