Background
SMRP launched the Approved Provider Education Program (APEP) in 2015. The program recognizes training and continuing education that align with the most relevant topics and best practices in the maintenance, reliability and physical asset management profession, according to the SMRP Body of Knowledge and/or the Asset Management Landscape, published by the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM).
Purpose
The APEP Committee was established to develop and oversee the APEP business plan. The committee advises on program policy, execution and marketing strategy.
Objectives
- To ensure the program validates and recognizes training and educational courses that alight with the SMRP Body of Knowledge and/or the Asset Management Landscape
- To promote the importance and quality training to practitioners to improve their skills and prepare for the future
Committee Expectations
The APEP Committee may consist of up to eight team members. The APEP Committee Chair is authorized to invite more committee members to participate, if necessary. The committee is required to meet the objectives outlined in the charter.
Budget & Resources
The SMRP Board of Directors identifies a budget and staff resources annually. The fiscal year runs from July 1 – June 30.
Committee Member
Committee members volunteer, or are appointed by the APEP Committee Chair. Committee members may serve up to a three-year term. Terms begin in October, immediately following the Annual Business Meeting at the SMRP Annual Conference.
Estimated Time Commitment
1-3 hours per month; includes one teleconference per month and other meetings as necessary
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively in a group
- Demonstrated leadership and professionalism
Requirements
- Must review and sign the SMRP Code of Conduct annually
- Must adhere to the Antitrust Policy
General Duties
- Addresses issues concerning Approved Providers violating SMRP policy
- Evaluates Approved Provider applications that staff escalates
- Revise and/or update the APEP policies as needed
- Report APEP policy violations to staff
- Make recommendations to improve the program
Resignation
- Committee Chairs: In the event a committee member must resign, a 30-day written notice to the Education Director is required.
- Committee Member: In the event a committee member must resign, a 30-day written notice to the APEP Committee Chair is required.
Removal
- Committee Chairs: In the event a committee chair is not fulfilling the general duties of the position, the Education Director may recommend removal.
- Committee Member: In the event a committee member is not fulfilling the general duties of the position, the APEP Committee Chair may recommend removal.
