International Affairs Committee Member-

Background
SMRP’s international membership has grown significantly over the past two years. Since 2016, international membership increased 63%. Today, more than 30% of SMRP’s total membership consists of members that reside outside of the United States.
Purpose
The purpose of the International Affairs Committee is to deliver value to international members and keep them engaged in the organization through activities such as: the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM), World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM), International Affiliates, International Symposium and global trade outs.
Objectives
- To develop guidelines for evaluating global partnerships and/or alliance opportunities with third-party organizations
- To evaluate international proposals for qualifying and prioritizing potential partner organizations and establish global partnerships or alliances
- To identify strategies to implement and sustain international affiliates
- To develop guidelines for determining International Symposium locations
Committee Expectations
The International Affairs Committee may consist of up to eight team members. At least one GFMAM/WPiAM representative should be involved on the committee. The International Affairs Committee Chair is authorized to invite more committee members to participate, if necessary. The committee is required to meet the objectives outlined in the charter.
Budget & Resources
The SMRP Board of Directors identifies a budget and staff resources annually. The fiscal year runs from July 1 – June 30.
Committee Member
Committee members volunteer, or are appointed by the International Affairs Committee Chair. Terms begin in October, immediately following the Annual Business Meeting at the SMRP Annual Conference.
Estimated Time Commitment
1-3 hours per month; includes one teleconference per month and other meetings as necessary
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively in a group.
- Demonstrated leadership and professionalism.
Requirements
- Must review and sign the SMRP Code of Conduct annually
- Must adhere to the Antitrust Policy
General Duties
- Develop guidelines for evaluating global partnerships and/or alliance opportunities with third-party organizations
- Evaluate and prioritize proposals for international partnerships or alliances
- Identify strategies to implement and sustain international affiliates
- Develop guidelines for determining International Symposium location
Resignation
- Committee Chairs: In the event a committee member must resign, a 30-day written notice to the Outreach Director is required.
- Committee Member: In the event a committee member must resign, a 30-day written notice to the International Affairs Committee Chair is required.
Removal
- Committee Chairs: In the event a committee chair is not fulfilling the general duties of the position, the Outreach Director may recommend removal.
- Committee Member: In the event a committee member is not fulfilling the general duties of the position, the International Affairs Committee Chair may recommend removal.
