Background

SMRP launched its webinar program in 2016 to provide easily-accessible education to members globally. In addition to hosting complimentary live webinars to members, SMRP offers recordings to members and nonmembers in the SMRP Library.

 

Purpose

The Professional Development Committee was developed to oversee the webinar program.

 

Objectives

  • To develop webinar content that positions SMRP as the premier source of education within the maintenance, reliability and physical asset management profession
  • To ensure annual webinar goals are met

 

Committee Expectations

The Professional Development Committee may consist of up to eight team members. The Professional Development Committee Chair is authorized to invite more committee members to participate, if necessary. The committee is required to meet the objectives outlined in the charter.

 

Budget & Resources

The SMRP Board of Directors identifies a budget and staff resources annually. The fiscal year runs from July 1 – June 30.

 

Committee Member

Committee members volunteer, or are appointed by the Professional Development Committee Chair. Terms begin in October, immediately following the Annual Business Meeting at the SMRP Annual Conference.

 

Estimated Time Commitment

1-3 hours per month; includes one teleconference per month and other meetings as necessary

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively in a group.
  • Demonstrated leadership and professionalism.

 

Requirements

  • Must review and sign the SMRP Code of Conduct annually
  • Must adhere to the Antitrust Policy

 

General Duties

  • Participate in the review and approval of webinars
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on the submission and approval process

 

Resignation

  • Committee Chairs: In the event a committee member must resign, a 30-day written notice to the Education Director is required.
  • Committee Member: In the event a committee member must resign, a 30-day written notice to the Professional Development Committee Chair is required.

 

Removal

  • Committee Chairs: In the event a committee chair is not fulfilling the general duties of the position, the Education Director may recommend removal.
