Webinar Presentation Guidelines

The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals provides educational webinars to members that promote excellence in maintenance, reliability and physical asset management. Webinar presentations last one hour, with live presentations including a brief question and answer session. The webinars are hosted via GoToWebinar, which requires the instructor and
participants to join online and via an international toll-free phone number.

To be considered as an instructor for an SMRP webinar event, your presentation must be educational; sales presentations will not be considered. Additionally, your presentation must support SMRP’s mission and align with SMRP’s Body of Knowledge or GFMAM’s Asset Management Landscape.

CONTENT REQUIREMENTS

Please review all content requirements below. For specific questions, contact SMRP staff at info@smrp.org.

1. Presentations should align with the SMRP Body of Knowledge, which contains five validated pillars of information essential to the success of maintenance and reliability professionals, or GFMAM’s Asset Management Landscape. Relevant topics include:

  • Business & Management
  • Manufacturing Process Reliability
  • Equipment Reliability
  • Organization & Leadership
  • Work Management
  • Asset Management

  1. The primary presenter is responsible for submitting the webinar information to the SMRP staff by using the online submission form.

    3. To maintain the integrity of SMRP educational content, all webinar presentations must be non-commercial in nature. Presentations that could be interpreted as commercial will not be accepted. To this end, we ask that webinar presentations focus on case studies, emphasizing methodology rather than the specific tools used (such as proprietary software or equipment). In addition, presentations should avoid discussion of trademarked solutions.

    4. Shared Interest Group (SIG) presentations must directly relate to the industry or subject of the SIG.

    SELECTION CRITERIA/COMMITTEE REVIEW

All content submissions will be evaluated by SMRP staff and a review committee. SMRP staff will notify you of the review committee’s decision. SMRP may choose to keep your submission on file for up to 12 months to be used at a later date. If your presentation is accepted, SMRP staff will assist you with the next steps. Submissions will be reviewed and selected based on the following criteria:

  • Overall quality and relevance to maintenance, reliability and physical asset management
  • Alignment with SMRP’s Body of Knowledge or GFMAM’s Asset Management Landscape
  • Practical applications of material
  • Speaker qualifications

AFTER COMMITTEE REVIEW

Staff will notify presenters regarding committee feedback. If a presentation does not meet SMRP guidelines, the committee provides an opportunity to make revisions and resubmit the presentation for approval.

If a presentation meets SMRP guidelines, staff will reach out with the following next steps:

1. Confirmation of approval
2. Required SMRP PowerPoint Template
     a. All presentations must use the provided template without changes to fonts/colors.
     b. Company logos are only permitted at the beginning and end of the presentation
3. Date/time availability for presentation
4. Date/time availability for practice session

SMRP staff provides presenters with an attendee roster and feedback survey upon completion of the webinar.
