Background
SMRP recognizes member achievements with several awards presented during the conference annually. The CMRP of the Year Award, Veteran Professional, is presented to one CMRP with more than 10 years of experience. The CMRP of the Year Award, Rising Leader, is presented to one CMRP with less than 10 years of experience within the profession. Additionally, a Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to one member that has gone above and beyond their volunteer duties.
Purpose
The Awards Committee was developed to ensure SMRP provides annual awards for members that have demonstrated exceptional work in the profession or the Society.
Objectives
To develop awards that recognize members for their exceptional work
Committee Expectations
The Awards Committee may consist of up to eight team members. The Awards Committee Chair is authorized to invite more committee members to participate, if necessary. The committee is required to meet the objectives outlined in the charter.
Budget & Resources
The SMRP Board of Directors identifies a budget and staff resources annually. The fiscal year runs from July 1 – June 30.
Committee Member
Committee members volunteer, or are appointed by the Awards Committee Chair. Terms begin in October, immediately following the Annual Business Meeting at the SMRP Annual Conference.
Estimated Time Commitment
1-3 hours per month; includes one teleconference per month and other meetings as necessary
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively in a group
- Demonstrated leadership and professionalism
Requirements
- Must review and sign the SMRP Code of Conduct annually
- Must adhere to the Antitrust Policy
General Duties
- Participate in application evaluation process
- Provide recommendations on new awards and increasing recognition to members
- Score candidates in evaluation system
Resignation
- Committee Chairs: In the event a committee member must resign, a 30-day written notice to the Member Services Director is required.
- Committee Member: In the event a committee member must resign, a 30-day written notice to the Awards Committee Chair is required.
Removal
- Committee Chairs: In the event a committee chair is not fulfilling the general duties of the position, the Member Services Director may recommend removal.
- Committee Member: In the event a committee member is not fulfilling the general duties of the position, the Awards Committee Chair may recommend removal.
