SMRP is seeking three volunteers to serve on the Membership Committee. Terms begin in October, immediately following the Annual Business Meeting at the SMRP Annual Conference.
Background
SMRP was incorporated in 1992. Since then, membership has grown to over 6,000 members globally. More than 30% of the membership resides outside of the United States. SMRP offers individual, student and executive memberships.
Purpose
The Membership Committee was established to review and recommend new member benefits as well as member recruitment and retention strategies. The committee develops and distributes the annual membership survey, analyzes the results, and proposes new services that attract and retain members.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively in a group.
- Demonstrated leadership and professionalism.
- Must be a member in good standing
- Must review and sign the SMRP Code of Conduct annually
- Must adhere to the Antitrust Policy
Estimated Time Commitment
1-3 hours per month; includes one teleconference per month and other meetings as necessary
Responsibilities
- Provide recommendations on membership dues, benefits, programs and services
- Review and assess effectiveness of member recruitment and retention strategies
- Oversee annual member survey
- Conduct surveys as needed to determine areas for organizational improvement
- Provide assistance to chapter leaders

- Applicants will be reviewed by the Membership Committee Chair to ensure variety in experience, industry, roles, etc. Applicants who are chosen to participate will be contacted by SMRP staff. Please note, submitting an application does not guarantee participation.
