CMRP passing score

    Just kind of curious if anyone knows the passing percentage for the CMRP certification test?

    It's a well kept secret.  It's the same with the CRL test.  I believe the number isn't published because of requirements set by the certifying authority.  The question has come up in multiple courses and lectures I've attended (taught by test proctors/those in the know) and never was it revealed.  Perhaps others have had better luck getting the passing score revealed.

    The passing score I believe is 75%. You will be graded on five pillars of maintenance and work flow and the questions will be based around the following areas;
    1- Business and Management
    2- Manufacturing process reliability
    3- Equipment reliability
    4- Organization and leadership
    5- Work management

    As others said, the passing score is a secret and they haven't revealed it. But, this is what I heard from a test proctor and one of the instructors: the test is designed so that %64 of attendees would have a chance to pass it; of course this does not mean that %64 would definitely pass each test! it happened that %0 of attendees of a class could not pass or near %80 were passed in other classes.

    There are different versions of the exam and each version has a different passing score.  Moreover, each exam has audit questions that do not count for the exam score.  The challenge is the test taker doesn't know which questions are audit questions.  The audit process is used to determine how good questions are for use in future versions of the exam.

    I am a past Chairman of SMRP and sat on the SMRP Certifying Organization Board for a number of years. The passing score is a very well kept secret. Very few people know the passing score. There are various versions of the test. They all have the same passing score. The tests are carefully designed such that 64% of the people taking the test will pass. The passing rate is not set by the certifying authority.

    Maintenance and Reliability best practices by Ramesh Gulati and there is an app if you search for CMRP that is called CMRP quiz that is free but, you can buy 2 extra quizzes for $9.99 each. The review of the metrics in the SMRP library is helpful to. With that said the books in the SMRP BoK cover it but, there were still a lot of head scratches but, it was thorough. I think if you keep in the study of reliability you should be OK.
