  • 1.  How digging into the five pillars (and smarter mock exams) helped me pass CMRP

    Posted 12-08-2025 07:36 AM

I passed the CMRP by slowing down and really learning the five pillars, one at a time. I kept a simple three-pages sheet per pillar-key ideas, common mistakes, and how I've seen it play out at work. That made everything click together instead of feeling like separate buckets.

Mock exams weren't just score checks. I tagged each question by pillar, wrote a quick note on why I missed it (gap in knowledge, misread, or a tricky distractor), then revisited the topic and re-tested it a day or two later. The big shift was thinking in scenarios rather than memorizing definitions-what's the goal, what data matters, what's the next best step. Short timed sets taught me when to move on instead of getting stuck.

Happy to share the simple templates I used for the pillar sheets and the tag-and-why log if that helps.

    Great achievement, congratulations!

I got my CMRP last Friday as well and what you are sharing is pretty similar to my way to study. Just to add something, I paid couple of Udemy courses to do a couple of mock tests, it was a great help, but I have to say that I was surprised when taking the test because the core of the test was focused on pillars 1, 4 and 5. So my advice to all people preparing the exam is to put special attention to these 3 pillars, we are doing different tasks in our daily routine which are more focused on pillars 2 and 3, so it is important to put special effort in the pillars I just mentioned.

I hope this help future candidates on getting the certification at first try.

    All the best

The exam does not focus on any particular pillar(s). The exam is randomly generated so no two exams are alike. This prevents cheating and sharing questions.
