How to make a Maintenance & Reliability Program fail "Miserably."

I always wonder how some of us manage to achieve this? So, let's start with the Basics:

    The Dont's...

    1. DO NOT do the most basic things to maintain your equipment. After all, I'm a Maintenance professional with decades of experience. I Always tell my guys that the faster I fix the issue, the better; I'm here to save the day

I will be posting other nuggets of Reliability wisdom as time goes by...

    • Do not do Visual inspections:
      • Why look at my equipment if sensors can tell me everything?
      • Why check on a machine that is dirty, and nobody wants to even look at it.
      • Why inspect a machine that nobody cares about or even knows what it does
      • Why go to a place that is not identified or even the blueprints? Besides, nobody knows the place better than I or my guys.
      • Why send an experienced guy to waste time looking at a machine, that is a job for the newbies
      • There is no need for notes; if they see something wrong, just let me know, and I will send somebody to fix it.
      • And there are many more good reasons to avoid wasting time on useless and vague visual inspections.
