I have a new Operations VP specifically asking for MTBF and MTTR data.  We have four years of well- organized service pass down notes in a SQL data base and we now have a query that delivers MTBF along with the consequent reliability probability estimates.

Is there any source for comparative data for various machines, robot, and other industrial equipment?

Can anyone offer some practical applications for this data? I am playing with it now to determine how valuable it might be for maintenance planning, PM focus and frequency, and identifying problem areas. Does anyone else have insights and suggestion they are willing to share?

    Hi Fred

For O&G, OREDA is the database with MTBF and MTTR data. It has adopted ISO 14224-Collection and exchange of reliability and maintenance data for equipment.  Following the ISO standard will help structure the data to optimise analysis and allow comparison within the site, between sites or different companies. I think there is also a book titled failure modes to failure codes offering practical advice.

    Best regards

    Michalis

     Michalis,

Thank you.  I have peeked into the OREDA and ordered a copy of Failure Modes to Failure Codes by Reeve and Burley from Amazon.  I appreciate the leads.
