Does anyone know of an easy to use system for remote temperature monitoring? We have had issues with a smaller TEFC motor (1 HP) at my facility burning out due to a low VFD run speed (10 %). I'm working on the cooling issue with a blower cooled motor to replace the TEFC. In the near term, I'd like to have monitoring on this motor to see how high the temperature is running during our process and also to measure this against the new motor when I install it.

    Hi Brian,

You can use a motor winding temperature sensor as this will allow you to measure and monitor the temperature of the motor windings.
Here is Phase IV Engineering & Leap Sensors version: Wireless Motor Sensor for Predictive Maintenance, this allows the combination of  3 different sensors in one multi-sensor node: temperature, vibration, and electrical current with continuous remote monitoring  https://www.phaseivengr.com/product/sensors/temperature/wireless-motor-sensor-predictive-maintenance/

    Hope this helps out.

    Hello Brian,

We used a sensor to remote monitor a hot box.  It worked good for us.  Please see link below.

Hey Brian - we've got a pretty simple solution for this - wireless sensor using a thermocouple to monitor internal temperature of motor. Can go to a cloud or integrated locally using Modbus.

We're a reliability integrator out of Charlotte so I'm happy to come by and show you how they work next time I'm out that way. Install and set up takes all of 5 minutes. Here's the data sheet.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their ideas. I'll be running through them in the next few weeks to see what would work best with our control system at the plant.
