Ryan,
I would agree with both Bud Lockwood (on Stress Engineering) and Jack Nicholas (on Neville Sachs). Neville is the "Godfather" in Failure Analysis of equipment within industrial settings. Many of his experiences (i.e. steam turbines) cannot be acquired any long due to evolution.
If a more practical failure analysis approach is desired, Mike Barkle, one of our Sr. Reliability Engineer (
mikebarkle@infralogix.com), is highly qualified to perform this type of work. He has helped many clients with a more practical initial evaluation to determine any obvious actionable conclusions before seeking formal FA evaluations. He also has experienced with ASRS-style cranes since several of our clients have such systems. Feel free to email him directly to inquire about suitability.
