They are complimentary, but don't necessarily overlap. WPiAM certifications are more related to the foundational principles of asset management. CMRP is more related to maintenance and reliability. The most comparable other certification to CMRP is the Certified Reliability Leader (CRL), which covers asset management and reliability.
Both are important, but they are complimentary certifications. I tend to view asset management is the organizational structure and game plan guidance, maintenance and reliability is more how you execute it.
